BALI on Crete

From the holiday house VILLA Maquis it is worth to drive to BALI, one of the most beautiful villages of the north coast of Crete. Take a look at this amazing holiday house on Crete :

BALI owes its reputation mainly to the three beautifully situated bays, sandy beaches with clear water and the many lounge bars where it is pleasant to stay.

Bali was once no more than a modest fishing village. Over the years, the once a few hundred inhabitants town has become a top destination in Crete. Unfortunately, in the high season, Bali goes a bit under its own success. The attraction of Bali ensures that tourists from surrounding places also come to Bali to enjoy the beach life. There is still plenty of space on the beaches, but there are only a few parking spaces available for the rental cars that tourists use to drive to Bali. It is therefore the motto to arrive early in Bali, especially in the weekend when the locals also drive to Bali.

The most visited beach is Livadi Beach. This long stretched sandy beach is very popular among families with children. On Sunday you can see complete Greek families here who make it one big party with many tasty snacks and drinks. Another popular beach is the beach at the old harbor. Because parking space is very limited here, there are mainly people who stay in the accommodations around the "old port".

The nice thing about Bali is that there is plenty to do, but because of the different bays and beaches you do not have the feeling that you have ended up in a fairly large tourist place. Even the presence of a number of large hotels cannot ruin the atmosphere in Bali. An advantage of Bali is that there is only destination traffic. So you do not suffer from through traffic in the streets of Bali.

If you want to, you can also take boat trips from Bali, for example to the island of Santorini. An attraction just outside of Bali is the Agios Ioannis Podromos Monastery. The monastery has limited opening hours for visitors.
