Scuba diving or snorkelling
The scuba diving club "Omega divers" in Almyrida (4km) organizes boat trips to Akrotiri, known for its caves, reefs and underwater wrecks. Organized scuba diving boats trips also depart from Chania.
Divers all over the world love to come to the CHANIA area for diving. This area called APOKORONAS is characterised by limestone rock formations that have been eroded over time creating natural caverns and reefs with the presence of wrecks. It is in one of these caves that half a century ago they discovered a little elephant species that lived here when the island was still connected to the north of Africa. The precedes of these skeletons and the stalactites and stalagmites of the cavern offer a Wonderfull diving experience.
You can already go Snorkelling at 4 km in the fantastic bay of "OMBROS GIALOS" , it is in this bay that the city of Chania is developing a new diving center on large scale.
